Hello!
phpBB Group is a web platform where people interested in the web, and phpBB in particular, can come together and interact. It's not just about installing or customizing phpBB. It aims to be with you in your entire web journey.

In the phpBB Group, I want to show people what can be done with phpBB and I want people to benefit from it. I want people to understand that there is not really a gap between social media and phpBB. Not just me, I want people who love software, the web and forums as much as Google to come together and make this a great support site and a freelance marketplace for the benefit of everyone.

The purpose of the word "group" in the name phpBB Group is based on the logic that people interested in phpBB and websites will come together to form a group. phpBB Group is not affiliated with official phpBB organization or phpBB Limited.

As we move forward, everything will be more in place and certain rules will be established.

Best.

I'm happy to see this site form and hope it is a big success. My only other form of getting phpBB help has been with the phpBB.com forum, but it is often hard to find the help there. There is no support for older software at all.

Underneath there is database of messages. How much is it possible to make phpBB look like facebook or other social media UI?

Compared to typical phpBB of forum UI:
  • Show messages expanded (up to a small char limit) instead of having to click on post. aka "the feed"
  • Show messages from all boards interleaved (perhaps treat boards like # hashtag on social media)
  • Create each user their own "board" (or two, one public and the other invite-only) that serves as the page/wall on social media
is something like that possible with theme or plugin? I think phpBB could work great for many social media groups that want to get away from big social media. And while some may even prefer the interface of phpBB and other classic webforums, many people are familiar with the social media style interface these days.
